George Echeverria, who earned three stars for Amicale in Huntington Station and the departed Soigne in Woodmere, is preparing very satisfying food at the new Andiamo in Mineola.

Andiamo is in the corner address recently occupied by Pasta Vino. The dining room now is a bit more refined, and so's the cuisine, which combines New American with traditional continental.

Try Echeverria's duck-confit risotto, a creamy production accented with apple chutney. Or his goat cheese-and-mushroom sacchetti, phyllo packets finished with cranberries and a Port reduction.

Steak alla pizzaiola stands out for the sauce but also the tender hanger steak that absorbs it. Loin of pork turns tastefully Milanese and gets a spark from cherry peppers. Sweets include artful tiramisu and cannoli.

Worth visiting for a relaxed, comfortable, generous meal.

Andiamo, 149 Mineola Blvd., Mineola; 516-294-1715.

Cannoli are among the desserts at Andiamo.
