In Woodbury, Asian Bistro Next Door -- an ambitious spot adjacent to and under the same ownership as Graffiti an American Grill -- closed earlier this month, despite having received a three-star rating during the spring. A difficult economy was the reason given by co-owner Nick Hannides.

Many menu items, however, have migrated over to Graffiti, whose kitchen is now under the command of Mario Lopez. (Not that Mario Lopez — from “Saved by the Bell” and “Dancing with the Stars” — but rather a chef who's been working for Hannides during  the past three years).

Interestingly, says Hannides, half of the orders at Graffiti are for Chinese items. So if you’re hankering for crabmeat purses ($8), kung pao chicken (done American-style, with white meat, $18) or pineapple XO shrimp ($22), you’ll find them next door to where they once were served.

Graffiti an American Grill is at 8285 Jericho Tpke., Woodbury, 516-367-1340.
