The alterations about to go down at Horace & Sylvia’s Publick House in Babylon will be more than just cosmetic.

In the interest of beautifying comes this news flash: The place will close down tomorrow and reopen on Thursday after minor renovations - new flooring and a paint job.

The transformation to really watch will take place on the plate. New chef Brian Fugit, who cooked at several Long Island hotels as well as The Patio in Westhampton Beach, said he's looking to shake things up a bit. Come this fall, he said, he expects to take the menu "out of the comfort zone" and "onto the cusp."
