Heading to the beach this weekend? Have you already planned for lunch? If not, we have some ideas for beach-friendly takeout for the sandy Long Island shores. Whether you're craving tacos, fried chicken or local seafood, live in Nassau, Suffolk, or are spending time in the Hamptons, we have an option to satisfy your taste buds.
Crispy Taco Co.
Montauk, 769 Old Montauk Hwy., 631-238-5277
Westhampton Beach, 77 Main St., 631-684-9290
Southampton, 44 Hampton Rd., 631-259-3827
If you’re in the Hamptons or Montauk for the weekend, Crispy Taco Co., which has locations in Southampton, Montauk and Westhampton Beach, is selling beach-ready boxes of tacos. Having successfully debuted the “beach box" last summer, it consists of one ($18) or two ($25) tacos filled with a choice of protein (shrimp, pork, chicken, fish, mushroom, +$2 for steak) with tortilla chips, guacamole and pico de gallo. If you’re looking for more, there are side dishes, including queso, elote, or Mexican corn, rice and beans. More info: crispytaco.com
Beach Bird

Long Beach: 163 East Park Ave. (Opens today!)

As if we could overlook a fried chicken spot with the word “beach" in its name, Oyster Bay’s Beach Bird — opening its second shop, in Long Beach, today — offers the Bird Basket. With three chunky, white meat tenders, eight nuggets and 10 wings, it’s a shareable amount of food and costs $33. Add some twice-fried french fries, which come in salted, ranch, Cajun and loaded (like a baked potato) styles ($5-$8) and you’ve got yourself some lunch. Pro tip: If you’re an Oyster Bay resident, we suggest you head over to Theodore Roosevelt Beach and grab some frosty beverages or ice cream from the new Sandbox concession stand, another great beach takeout option. Nicky’s on the Bay
150 S. Clinton Ave., Bay Shore, 631-892-6694
Whether you’re headed to Fire Island, or simply kicking around the many beaches that border Bay Shore, you can score some seafood from the takeaway window at Nicky’s on the Bay, at the far end of Bay Shore Marina, just past the ferry terminal. Though it's better known for lingering over Long Island sunsets and dinner on the pier, takeaway options mimic the dinner menu and include raw bar items like clams ($19/dozen) and oysters ($31/dozen) on the half shell, lobster and soft shell crab rolls (MP), and shareable barges, or baskets, full of fried seafood like shrimp ($20), scallops ($24) and whole belly clams ($19). Don’t forget a to-go coconut watermelon margarita to wash it all down. More info: nickysonthebay.com
