Where would you go to eat if you suddenly found yourself with a lot of money to spend on one fancy dinner?
That’s the dilemma a reader posed to me. It seems that her mah-jongg group had socked away a little every week and decided to use it on dinner at a restaurant they'd normally consider too extravagant.
So far, members have come up with two pricey contenders: Insignia Prime Steak and Sushi in Hauppauge and Rare 650 in Syosset, both steak houses. The suggestion I offered was North Fork Table & Inn in Southold, where the New American farm-to-table food garnered a four-star rating from Newsday.
