Billy Joel, Susan Lucci and more celebrities spotted at Hamptons restaurants
It’s high season in the Hamptons, which means the time is ripe for celebrity spotting. Top news is seeing native son and pianoman Billy Joel enjoying dinner and a bottle of wine at East Hampton go-to, Nick & Toni’s on July 27.
Earlier in the week, on July 25 in the front room — also at Nick & Toni’s — a sharp eye would have recognized British actress Emily Mortimer — of the HBO series “The Newsroom,” who also played roles in “Shutter Island” and “Hugo” — sharing pasta with her kids.
Saturday night at Manna in Water Mill, Susan Lucci of Lifetime’s “Devious Maids” and ABC’s “All My Children” ordered the beet salad and crabcakes. The night before, she sat on the patio for dinner at Jean-Georges’ new restaurant, Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton, where she tweeted, “Beautiful leisurely dinner with my handsome Helmut last night in Bridgehampton at Topping Rose!!!] Perfect summer evening!!!
On Saturday night at Almond, Michael J. Fox — of “The Good Wife” on CBS — along with his wife, Long Island native Tracy Pollan — “The Michael J. Fox Show,” “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” — had dinner with Talia Balsam of AMC’s “Mad Men” and John Slattery — also of “Mad Men,” who played The Boston Globe’s Ben Bradlee Jr. in “Spotlight,” the film that won this year’s Oscar for Best Picture.
On Sunday back at Nick & Toni’s, British actors Damian Lewis of Showtime’s “Homeland” and Dominic West of HBO’s “The Wire” and Showtime’s “The Affair,” visited the restaurant, while Blythe Danner — ABC miniseries “Madoff,” NBC/Lifetime’s “Will & Grace,” as well as mother to Gwyneth Paltrow — dined on the patio with a friend until they scuttled inside when the rains came.
