Bollinger's in Farmingdale to close Sunday

Bollinger’s Family Restaurant in Farmingdale will serve its last house-made ice cream sundae this Sunday, when the restaurant is scheduled to shut its doors.

“It’s partly the economy and mostly not enough volume to sustain the overhead and the cost, between the rent, LIPA and National Grid,” said owner Joe Tonelli.

The restaurant’s classic BLT made the list of Long Island’s best in a Newsday article published last year. I recall savoring that sandwich at the same time sneaking bites from a friend’s hearty bratwurst platter.

To get a last taste of the above or more, better make tracks to Farmingdale before Sunday.
