Two items from the enticing new bar menu at Butera’s came up as winners on a recent visit to the Smithtown location.

One was a crisp-crusted grilled individual pizza Margherita ($7.95) with a vibrant mozzarella, tomato and basil topping. My one criticism of an otherwise delicious mozzarella-capped chicken meatball Parmesan bruschetta ($9.95) — actually, more of an open-face sandwich — was that the grilled garlic and olive-oil rubbed "country bread" was a bit too thick.

The menu, which also offers a pizza "bianco" ($9.95) and "rustica" ($10.95) as well as such bruschetta toppings as grilled sausage with broccoli rabe ($9.95) and shrimp marechiara ($13.95), is available only at the bar.
