On this island, finding simply prepared and pleasing seafood can be a quest. Here are three destinations where the search is a success.

The theme is Greek, with first-class appetizers, moussaka, lamb and beef dishes. But the main events at Alexandros have fins. Go for the perfectly grilled, pristine whole fish, especially red snapper. Save room for the baklava and rice pudding.

Near the Fire Island ferry and close to the hearts of informal seafood fans, The Cull House lures you with its raw bar, steamed clams and mussels, fish and chips, steamers, fried calamari, steamed lobster, lobster rolls and the clambake.

This mainstay along Freeport's Nautical Mile knows the drill and sends out well-steamed or broiled lobsters, lobster rolls, crabcakes, New England- inspired clam chowder, sesame ahi tuna salad, local flounder and a raw platter for two.
