The Empire Szechuan in Melville closed in 2008, but the years have not been kind. At this point it looks like it’s been abandoned for decades, if not centuries. When the traffic along 110 abates you can practically hear the tumbleweeds rolling by.
We who work / live in Melville have reason to mourn Empire Szechuan’s passing: it was the only place around here to get decent Chinese food. At lunchtime you could get big bowls of noodle soup (we loved the “fire duck”), passable dim sum, pretty good sushi, even. And they delivered.
