It’s been a rough few weeks, researching chocolate ice cream on Long Island. The fruits of my delicious labors appear in today’s paper.

Along with old favorites—In the Mood in Woodbury, Herrell’s in Huntington, Snowflake in Riverhead among them—there are also two new additions to the Long Island ice-cream scene: Five Pennies Creamery in Rockville Centre and The Hollow Creamery in Carle Place. Plus video of the way-cool liquid-nitrogen ice cream they’re making at LN2 Creamery at Port Washington’s Main Street Bakery.

When I made my first visit to LN2, they were still working out the kinks of their chocolate ice cream, but I dropped by earlier this week and can report that it is now firing on all cylinders.
