Eating out on Christmas Day usually means going ethnic. A dragon roll. Kung pao chicken. Adana kebab.

But All-American alternatives exist, if not in profusion. Two places that will be open Dec. 25 are Jackson’s in Commack and Smokin’ Al’s Famous BBQ Joint in Massapequa Park. The Bay Shore Smokin' Al's, however, will be closed for the day.

Jackson’s will feature its regular menu, with such items as an ahi tuna burger ($14.50) and marinated skirt steak ($22.95), along with a $24.95 three-course prix-fixe. Hours run from 2 to 10 p.m.

The regular menu prevails at Smokin’ Al’s, too, with choices such as a Carolina pulled pork sandwich ($11.95) and barbecued baby back ribs ($15.99 half rack, $22.99 full rack). Hours are from 1 to 10 p.m. The restaurant doesn’t accept reservations.

We'll be coming to you soon with ethnic restaurants that are serving on Christmas Day. But do you know of any non-ethnic restaurants like Jackson's and  Smokin' Al's that are open Christmas Day? Let us know.
