Deli King in New Hyde Park has gone to that big kreplach in the sky. In addition to overstuffed sandwiches, chicken-in-the-pot and other classics, the decades-old kosher-style delicatessen served some of Long Island’s best French fries.

Delis have been dropping like flies in the past year. We lost Andel’s in Roslyn Heights, Commack Kosher Meats in Commack and Delsen’s in Bay Shore.

So please, everyone, let’s say a prayer for the continued good health of Woodro Kosher Deli, which recently moved to 1441 Broadway in Hewlett, Bellcrest Kosher Deli in Bellmore, Boomy’s in Plainview, Kensington Deli in Great Neck, Lido Deli in Long Beach, Pastrami & Friends in Commack, Pastrami King in Merrick, Pastrami Plus in East Meadow, Regal in Plainview, Zan’s in Lake Grove and Ben's Kosher Delicatessens in Carle Place, Greenvale and Woodbury.
