One of Long Island’s most imaginative ice-cream parlors has closed. The New York Stuffed Cone Co. in St. James was dedicated to owner Dave Saracino’s vision of a world of ice cream cones not just topped with sprinkles—or nuts or bits of candy—but where the toppings were layered along with the ice cream right inside the cone.

Apparently it was a vision too beautiful to live. The shop closed its doors last week.
