Expect a new entry in Long Island's sushi wars.

Kashi, which has highly rated restaurants in Huntington and Rockville Centre, is expected to open a third branch in Syosset. Construction is under way at the site on the north side of  Jericho Turnpike, situated opposite Chris & Tony's restaurant, which is located at 352 Jericho Tpke.

The opening is expected in summer.

Kashi stands out with colorful "signature" sushi rolls, plus dishes not usually associated with Japanese kitchens, such as shrimp-and-lobster risotto, blue crab fajitas, tuna tortillas, and Kobe-style meatballs. There's a popular hibachi area at the Rockville Centre restaurant.

Kashi in Huntington is at 12 Elm St.; 631-923-1960. Kashi in Rockville Centre is at 222 Sunrise Hwy.; 516-442-7600.
