Commack: Wine tastings, wine bargains

Every November, Long Island Wine & Spirits Merchants hosts a Wine & Food Festival to thank customers for their business — and to help those same customers stock up on wine for the holidays. This Saturday, Adam Schneider, the shop’s passionate wine buyer, plans to open about 100 bottles for tasting, among them a 2007 Alexander Valley Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon, 2007 Castello di Neive Barbaresco, 2008 Bogle Vineyards Phantom, 2001 La Rioja Alta Reserva Especial and E. Guigal Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2005.
All sampled wines will be discounted (up to 25 percent), and prices will be good through Nov. 19.
Food will be provided by Ciao Baby of Commack, and from 3 to 5 p.m., former New York Jets wide receiver Wesley Walker will be on hand as well, plus live music.
The festivities run from 2 to 7 p.m. Long Island Wine & Spirits Merchants is at 1171 Jericho Tpke., Commack, 631-343-7200.
