Freeport is saying ciao and ¡hola! to Tony Cuban Cucina & Cocktails, the new hybrid Italian-Cuban restaurant that's taken over the waterside spot that, since 2009, hosted the seafood-centric Wildfish.

The new restaurant's Cuban-born chef/owner, Frank Minier, previously presided over the former Laguna Grille in Woodbury. He and his wife, Elizabeth Minier, also own Mercato Kitchen & Cocktails in Massapequa Park.

Minier said that the new dining spot has an indoor bar and dining room as well as a large outdoor patio that often features live music. On the regular dinner menu, you'll find such items as empanadas, a grilled calamari salad, a classic pork Cubano sandwich, pappardelle ala ropa vieja, chicken Francese, penne alla vodka and plantain-crusted branzino. A la carte prices range from $9.95 for grilled vegetables to $29.95 for osso buco.

There's also a two-course $20.95 prix-fixe dinner deal available Sunday to Thursday with such appetizer choices as clams oreganata and pulled pork quesadilla and main course selections like pork chops Camaguey and ropa vieija. Sunday to Friday, you'll find a $15.15 two-course prix-fixe lunch. A prix-fixe Sunday brunch, at $22.95, features a choice of appetizer, a main course (like Bourbon hanger steak skillet or huevos rancheros omelet) and two hours of unlimited mimosa, Bloody Mary and sangria drinks. Got all that?

Tony Cuban Cucina & Cocktails is at 507 Guy Lombardo Ave., Freeport, 516-442-0565.
