The Currywurst Company, now closed, brought a popular German specialty to Long Beach.

Say guten tag to The Currywurst Company, which brings to Long Beach a variation on one of Germany’s most popular specialties — sausages served with curried ketchup. Here in Long Beach, bratwurst is topped with a proprietary tomato sauce and sprinkled with curry powder.

“Oktoberfest year round” is the motto of the casual spot, where you order at the counter and your food is brought to you. Seating options include a communal table.

Wursts come with a choice of German bread or kaiser roll and a side of hand-cut Belgian fries. On the menu: veal currywurst ($5.99), leberkaese, or German meat loaf, on a roll ($7.50), lamb merguez bratwurst ($6.50) and wild boar bratwurst ($6.50). Curry sauces come in varying degrees of heat. Dessert choices include Black Forest cake ($5.75) and warm apple strudel ($5.75), brought in from a German bakery. There’s also beer and wine.

The Currywurst Company is at 10 W. Park Ave., Long Beach, 516-665-3150, the-currywurst-company.com.
