Dominican fare in Farmingdale

I really want to like the food at Dominican Restaurant 4 in Farmingdale (there are 2 other branches, in Freeport and Uniondale). For one thing, I'm a fan of the cuisine. For two others, a reader recommends it highly and the place is close to Newsday headquarters.
But at lunch, virtually everything comes from a steam table – and it takes 15 minutes for the waitress to deliver it. The chicken soup I order turns out not to be chicken soup but rather a tomato-based oily broth with lots of beans. Pernil (roasted pork) is lukewarm and somewhat dry; baked chicken, ditto.
A pity, since the food has nice flavor. At dinner, my understanding is that some items are done to order. That may be the time to experience the place at its best.
Dominican Restaurant 4 is at 305 Main St., Farmingdale, 516-586-6005
