Dynasty Café, a luncheonette in Bay Shore that earned its name, is slated to close on Saturday, March 3, after 34 years.

Thomas Wernikowski, the cafe’s owner, died recently, and the restaurant has been sold.

Wernikowski’s brother Alex, who has been running the place, was the cook at Dynasty. With the phrase “a great way to start the day” atop the menu, Dynasty Café was known for hearty and generous portions of pancakes and egg dishes, served in a sunny-hued dining room.

The omelets were a specialty: three eggs with home fries. Corned beef hash, steak fries, onion rings, sausage, and turkey sausage patties also have been staples. Two pancakes with bacon or sausage, juice and coffee: $6.75.

Dynasty Café is at 1895 Union Blvd., Bay Shore, 631-665-9747.
