The rumors have swirled around for the last few weeks, but now the lease has been signed. Fairway Market will will be moving into the Roosevelt Raceway Center in Westbury. The specialty supermarket will occupy about half of the 128,000 square-foot space on Corporate Drive that used to house Home Depot Expo, which closed in 2009. The opening is expected to create 400 to 500 jobs.

The Westbury location will be Fairway’s 11th, and its second on Long Island; the Plainview store (at 50 Manetto Hill Mall) opened in 2001. Asked why he chose Westbury, Fairway’s chief executive Howard Glickberg said that “this store is more accessible to our South Shore customers.”
