Call it a chain reaction: three fast-food spots recently spawned offshoots in Suffolk County.
Today, Jake’s Wayback Burgers made its debut at 1964 Jericho Turnpike (in the Elwood Shopping Center), 631-864-5555, waybackburgers.com. Click here to read about the food at the first Long Island branch of the chain, which opened this past November in Massapequa Park.
Check out this move: Checkers now has a new branch at 1975 Nesconset Hwy., Lake Grove, 631-265-6700, checkers.com. On the menu: burgers, fries, wings, fish sandwiches, hot dogs and soft drinks.
And then there's Tropical Smoothie Cafe, which just added a new outpost in Port Jefferson Station, 5120 Nesconset Hwy., 631-509-5800, tropicalsmoothie.com. In addition to the namesake drinks, you can get sandwiches, wraps, salads and more.
