If you’re looking for things to do on Father’s Day (other than praising dad and fetching him beer), ExploreLI has compiled an all-singing, all-dancing guide to dad-worthy activities, including this guide to steakhouses, extravagant and value-priced.

Since I wrote this story about restaurants where fathers and sons work side by side (Pizzetteria Brunetti in West Hampton Beach, Silver’s in Southampton, Jake’s Wayback Burgers in East Northport and Market Bistro in Jericho), I’ve got to thinking how many of Long Island’s great old ice-cream parlors are also father and son collaborations. If you’re not up to buying dad a steak, you could certainly spring for a sundae on Sunday made by Walter Itgen or his sons Walter Jr. and Mike at Itgen's in Valley Stream, by Anthony Meras Jr. or Sr., at Star Confectionery in Riverhead, by Phillip Zouros or his son Harry at Hicksville Sweet Shop in Hicksville.

Happy Father’s Day!

At Market Bistro in Jericho, Chris and Bill Holden put the finishing touches on a dish.
