Despite its unassuming appearance, La Fondita is one of Long Island's top destinations for Mexican food. The south-of-the-border-contemporary interior offers a few counter stools, or eat outside at one of the picnic tables alongside the pond.
Tacos are all first rate, including the savory carne asada (grilled steak), wrapped in a soft corn tortilla and topped with chopped onions and cilantro. Host Meredith Daniels gave the tacos a try.

At La Fondita, you won't find anything fancy. But if you're craving authentic Mexican food on a beautiful summer's day, the search ends here. Located off of Montauk Highway, the road-trip worthy restaurant is easy to find, just look for the bright colors and satisfied faces.
