As the temperatures begin to drop, the demand for soup begins to rise. Looking for an affordable deli that specializes in more than 100 types of soup? Meredith Daniels has found the place for you. Join her as she goes behind the swinging kitchen door at NY Soup Exchange to see how owner Ken Kaplan creates one of his specialties.

Named one of Newsday's top places to "Chow Down on Chowder," this Garden City restaurant isn't just your run-of-the-mill soup kitchen. Customers can take a worldly adventure through various types of broths. Many of the recipes found on the menu have been gathered from Kaplan's experiences working around the country, along with being inspired by the native foods of Mexico, France and Italy.

Don't go in NY Soup Exchange expecting the same old soup everyday. The menu changes daily and consists of one soup from each category (poultry, beef, seafood, vegetarian, cream soup and stews). Also, each meal includes bread and fruit. But you don't get these options all the time. The restaurant only offers its services from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Saturday. Come any other time and it will be "no soup for you!"
