Open since 1913, Finnegan’s just might be Huntington’s oldest restaurant – or at least the oldest one that hasn’t changed its name. What keeps it pumping is a simple, inexpensive menu whose highlight has to be its juicy, crusty, beefy burger. I had one topped with Cheddar the other night and couldn't have been happier. Also commendable: a fine sliced steak sandwich and a savory turkey burger.
A real surprise at dinner was an appetizer of bruschetta with a topping of roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, golden raisins and pine nuts. Very good and not what you’d expect to find at a typical Irish pub.
Finnegan’s is at 5 Wall St., Huntington, 631-423-9696
