Art and party inspired by The Sixties

When the Huntington-based ”SparkBoom” arts initiative kicked off during the spring earlier this year (April 1), it promised a calendar of events chock-full of creativity, and its latest gathering – set for July 13 – is looking like it will live up to that guarantee.
Starting at 7 p.m., the party is a celebration of a new exhibit titled “The Times They Were A Changing-1960s: Huntington’s Response.” To be located at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building on Main Street, it’s a visual statement designed to both recall and revisit the fight for civil rights and the changes in social standards that took place during the decade that inspired this piece.
There is no charge to enter, and there will be themed sweets to eat, 1960’s-style clothing provided by Lotus Vintage fashions (12 West Carver St., Huntington, 631-470-7795) and music by 90.1 WUSB-FM DJ J-Ro, who will spin both his records and discs brought by guests.
