Over the past quarter-century, dozens and dozens of pubs, clubs, bars, lounges, discos and other fun spots have come and gone from the LI nightlife scene — but a notable few have managed to outlast the competition, maturing from just “places to go” into establishments that can draw generations of Islanders in for amusement.

Among those that have proved to be most enduring is Changing Times: once a single ale house and sports bar that opened in Farmingdale back in 1988; eventually becoming a brand with two additional locations sprouting up in East Northport (2001) and Bay Shore (2012). It’s safe to say that the ‘Times has had (and continues to have) a successful run — and in recognition, all three taverns will be celebrating their respective birthdays April 22-26.

The weeklong shebang kicks off at Changing Times Northport on Monday, April 22 (526B Larkfield Rd., 631-368-3255), with a free buffet and drink specials rolling for two hours starting at 7 p.m., then shifting over to Changing Times Farmingdale (1247 Melville Rd., 631-694-6462) the next day with a “Retro Tuesday” menu (the original ’88 lunch menu and prices) available from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. — which will be followed later that night by a 25th anniversary bash (7-9 p.m.) that offers both a free buffet and an open bar.

Wednesday, April 24 sees the next fete at Changing Times Bay Shore (29 E. Main St., 631-647-7871), which is doing a two-hour free buffet/ drink special deal of its own at 7 p.m. that night. Then the festivities then swing back to Farmingdale with live music from The Invisible Band on Thursday and Us and Floyd on Friday, with both putting on 9 p.m. performances. In addition, all three spots will be serving 15 cent wings and a five-hour happy hour (3-8 p.m.) nightly throughout the celebration.
