The annual ExploreLI magazine (formerly known as the Fun Book) will be delivered to subscribers only this Sunday, May 23. As always, we ran a reader photo contest and received almost 5,900 submissions! Yes, you read that number right. That's five times as many photos as we received for the 2009 contest.
You sent in photos of your kids playing at the beach and exploring local parks, friends enjoying summer fairs and festivals, dazzling sunrises and sunsets, quiet moments of introspection and scenes from nature, plus more.
The winning image of Ella Paulsen, pictured, giving her mom the thumbs-up at Robert Moses State Park last August, will be featured prominently on the cover.
