"I’m here because of my good friend, Hoda,” Kathie Lee Gifford said at the Heat cocktail party for The Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at Southampton Hospital held Saturday at the Bridgehampton home of Steven Klein. Gifford, breast cancer survivor Hoda Kotb and TV breast cancer survivor Kim Cattrall (as Samantha on “Sex in the City”) were being honored.

"Hoda’s not just a survivor,” said event emcee Rosanna Scotto. "She’s a thriver.”

Kotb has a bestselling book, a hot newish boyfriend and a thriving career laughing and drinking her way through the 10 a.m. "Today" show hour with Gifford. She’s giving women winos a good name, thank you very much.

Honestly, is there really alcohol in those glasses? Drinking at 10 a.m.? “A sip,” she laughed. “Of course, there’s something good in that cup. Otherwise, what’s the point? Time Magazine dubbed us the ‘happy hour of Today,’ because we’re happy.

"We just create the impression that you’re at a party. There’s a drink that’s sitting there. We take a little sip and people think we’re drinking through the whole hour. If we drank through the whole hour, I don’t think we would be able to function."

“But we create the environment that it’s OK to have a sip,” Gifford piped in. “And it is OK.”
