There's no shortage of coffee shops on Long Island — in fact, the genre continues to expand with established spots opening more locations.

Whether you're looking for a coffee connoisseur to brew you a cup, a hub to meet with friends or get work done, these chains continue to grow their footprint on Long Island.

For Five Coffee Roasters, Garden City

Best friends turned business partners Stefanos Vouvoudakis and Tom Tsiplakos opened their second Long Island location in August, in the heart of Garden City Village. The company uses more than 18 different blends and single origin coffees from around the world, including Ethiopia and Colombia. The beans are roasted and star in espressos, cappuccinos, lattes, drip coffee and cold brews.

With the latest location's launch comes a new seasonal menu of breakfast and lunch offerings: loaded salmon Sriracha toast ($21.95); steak and egg sandwiches ($22.95); Mexican birria grilled cheese ($20.95); chicken-pesto-burrata sandwiches ($21.95) and spicy vodka rigatoni ($20.95). On the baked goods front, expect croissants, muffins, cakes by the slice, spinach and cheese pies, and 11 varieties of stuffed cookies. Order at the counter, then take a seat at one of its communal seating areas or take a table for yourself — there’s plenty of room, inside and out.

The chain launched in Maspeth, Queens, in 2010 as a wholesale operation before opening its first retail location, in Manhattan, in 2016. For Five arrived on Long Island the following year, in Manhasset. The new Garden City location caters to gluten free, vegan, vegetarian and dairy free diets. It’s open daily from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. A Port Washington outpost is slated to open by year's end. More info: 147 7th St., Garden City, 516-271-9100; forfivecoffee.com

Southdown Coffee, Port Jefferson

Eight years after introducing Long Island to Southdown Coffee with the opening of his cafe in Huntington, owner Mark Boccard has brewed up his fifth location. This time, he’s bringing his specialty coffee to Port Jefferson (other locations include Oyster Bay, Glen Cove and Northport). The coffee, roasted in Glen Cove, is used for a full menu of typical coffee shop offerings — drips, espressos, Americanos, cappuccinos and lattes (from $3.25). Boccard says his coffee, sourced primarily from Guatemala, Brazil, Mexico and Ethiopia, is “on the lighter side, but not the lightest.”

Breakfast and lunch bring in such plates as its egg sandwiches (with bacon, Cheddar, arugula, pickled onion and tomato butter); breakfast burritos (with eggs, beans, pico, guacamole and sour cream); avocado toast; chickpea salad sandwiches and pulled chicken tacos. Customers will find cinnamon rolls, old fashioned doughnuts, banana bread, muffins and quiche ($2.50-$5), all of which are baked on-site, stacked in a glass showcase by the counter.

The Port Jefferson location is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily with a handful of tables set up inside and out. A Patchogue location is set to open by the end of the year. More info: 440 Main St., Port Jefferson,  southdowncoffee.com
