Party on The Fourth on the dance floor

Fireworks and backyard barbecues are always standard happenings on July 4, but with Independence Day landing on a Wednesday this year, it also means a chance to dance at large bashes usually reserved for weekends. Many clubs, bars and lounges will see extra business, but here are two spots where the parties should be most massive:

Danny Tenaglia is one of the most-respected and sought-out house DJs in the world, playing around the globe to packed clubs since the 1980s. He has remixed music for  A-list musicians like  Madonna, Cher, Bette Midler and Janet Jackson, and his mix compilations are considered dance classics.

He’ll be playing at Neptune’s starting sometime after noon -- and being that DT announced on his Facebook page back in April that he is going to start resigning from some of his gigs, it may be more important than ever to catch him live. While some long-lived venues around the Island can brag of serving customers for 10 to 20 years, this large restaurant and bar is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year -- so if your grandparents liked a good time in the sun, there’s a chance they crossed the bay to party long before the ferry schedules were ever posted online -- or before there even was an online.

The large waterside deck still draws a heavy crowd, and for July 4 the formula is simple: DJ Chris Kenny will spin party beats around live music from reggae band King Wellington (starting after 4 p.m.) while the bar serves up $4 Bud Lite beers from 3  to 5 p.m. Doors open at noon with no cover charge.
