For all the budding bartenders, DJs, bottle service personnel, promoters and others seeking a gig on the club circuit, a new spot is set to open soon in Nassau County.

Calling itself Rumors, details about what it will have to offer are slim. However, it's impending existence is not a rumor as the sign for the budding club is already in place – only feet from another posted banner, for Oz, the name this address (514 Hempstead Tpke., West Hempstead) is known best as. A catering location and home to a number of now-defunct nightspots in the past (Tabu, The Dorm, Jamz and also as Oz), it brings the party downstairs beneath street level, where a bar, dance floor and VIP areas await.

Whether the two signs together mean that it will be a club known as Rumors, with Oz available for private affairs and ceremonies, remains to be seen, but one upcoming event is set for Friday, Sept. 21. Johnny Vicious – a legendary DJ who has been spinning house music from the Manhattan club scene to across the tri-state area since the late 1980s, and has a long list of mix compilation albums and remixes that scored well on the music charts – is in place for a party being called “Sexy at Rumors.” With Vicious aboard, the night should be a winner for fans of powerful beats. For more details on the night check the Rumors Facebook page.

As for those interested in a possible job, there’s an open call at the location tonight (Wednesday, Aug. 29) from 7 to 10 p.m.; all are asked to bring a resume and photo.
