Ever since Sugar Dining Den and Social Club opened in Carle Place during the spring of 2011, it has served as both a lauded stop for dinner and as an absolute must of a nightclub. However, anyone looking to make a stop at Sugar this summer is going to have to rethink their plans, as it won’t be available for good times until sometime in September.

The spot’s “summer vacation,” so to speak, actually started back in May as at that point the venue stopped serving food, only offering late-night lounge parties on Thursdays and weekends. But by July 1, the doors closed completely – which is actually not such an unheard-of thing for a landlocked establishment like Sugar to do when the weather is at its warmest, as from Memorial Day-Labor Day, eateries and clubs in the Hamptons, Fire Island and other open air/ waterside locations draw much of the night-out crowd.

Then again, it’s also not uncommon for businesses to close for the summer .?.?. and then never return – but Sugar co-owner Brian Rosenberg describes the current closure as a happening necessary for “refurbishment,” also adding that while details cannot be fully shared at this time, there will be some new “toys” and “big surprises” in place for the many that patronize his lounge once it is back up and running.
