With the Giants all the rage these days as they get ready to take on the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI, there are many ways to celebrate the big game. Some involve parties in the home, others at restaurants and bars. But how many among us wish, deep down, that perhaps we were actually playing some football come Sunday, Feb. 5?

If taking part in a gridiron-style activity is your cup of tea, Front Street Station in Greenport might be able to help you get your “kicks.”

Starting at noon, all patrons in attendance at Front Street are invited to join the cozy restaurant and lounge’s annual “Super Bowl Field Goal Kicking Contest.”

The event is exactly as it sounds: Guests, male and female, will be able to take a crack at putting the pigskin through the house goal, set up in the back parking lot. Don’t worry if you’re a lady kicker and don’t want to compete with some burly guy, the contest is broken up into male and female.

Kicks will start at 10 yards and move back 10 yards with each round, with various, to-be-announced prizes going to the top toes – after which, the game will run in-house with drink specials and a free half-time buffet.
