SUNDAY: LATIN NIGHT AT JONES BEACH
There's nothing like hearing live music and dancing outdoors during the summer. Jones Beach offers free concerts all weekend, culminating with Latin Night on Sunday. 7:30-11:30 p.m. nightly (weather permitting), Jones Beach band shell area, parking field 4, Wantagh. Cost: Free. Every summer, I eagerly await the release of two calendars: the Nikon at Jones Beach summer concert series and the Jones Beach Boardwalk Band Shell events.
Maybe that's because I spent three summers working there (and about 30 summers going there). Or maybe it's because they both convey summer fun.
The first one costs money and is more hit-or-miss based on musical taste. The latter is always free and always fun, regardless of musical opinions.
