The 'Wig-Out' Party

Although still a very loosely-used slang term, the general understanding of “twerking” is that it refers to dancing in an expressive fashion, with its most notable motion generated from the hip and abdomen area. Not necessarily like the “Lambada” (aka “The Forbidden Dance”), but instead gregarious in its hindmost emphasis.

While witnessing twerking on the dance floor at a club is pretty much a run-of-the-mill find, rarely does a party base its very existence on such an activity. Yet on Thursday, Aug. 9, the Get Down! event and production team will be joining forces with the Hardy Parties group to present “Wig Out,” taking place at the Artful Dodger in Smithtown (43 E. Main St., 631-831-3955) starting after 9 p.m.

The name of the gathering is a play on the request by the planners that all those attending attempt to wear an interesting wig – and those guests 21-and-over who do so will have access to an open bar until 11:30 p.m., with ladies who sport such hairpieces scoring discounted admission as well, also until 11:30 p.m. EDM DJs such as Frank Clementi, Kryst0z, Dan2600 and Skidz will be in-house to spin bass-fueled beats – with the main event an appearance by California-based personality Chippy Non$top -- whose wild, gyrating dance moves, risqué commentaries and dedication to twerking make her a natural fit for a night such as this.

Age of admission is 18 and over. Women 18 to 20 pay $10 ($5 with wig before 11:30 p.m.), those 21 and over pay $5 (free with wig before 11:30 p.m.). As for gentlemen, it’s $15 for those 18-20, ($10 with wig before 11:30 p.m.), while all gents over 21 pay $10 regardless of whether their ‘dos are faux or real.
