Food collection for Island Harvest

LITweetup joins Panera Bread tomorrow to host a food drive that benefits Island Harvest, the region's major hunger-relief group.

LITweetup organizers will be at Panera Bread locations in Nassau in Suffolk to collect non-perishable items, gift cards and cash, which will be donated to Island Harvest. The collection will occur from 12  to 4 p.m.

This is the second year that LITweeup, a social-gathering service of Twitter users that uses the hash tag #LITweetup, is participating in the event. About 150 pounds of food were collected last year. The organization seeks to triple the amount.
