Franklin Square: Prosit! Beer-tasting festival

Break out the lederhosen and brace for Oktoberfest. Plattduetsche Park's second annual beer-tasting festival is slated for Oct. 9.
You'll be sampling the brews in the restaurant's biergarten to German music, live courtesy of Schachtelgebirger Musikanten. Beers to be poured include those from local Blue Point Brewing Co. and Fire Island Brewing Co.; American winners such as Goose Island, Long Trail, Leinenkugel and Samuel Adams; plus classic imports, Pilsner Urquell, Warsteiner, Spaten, Franziskaner and Hacker-Pschorr.
There will be two sessions. The afternoon ' fest is from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.; the evening activities, 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Tickets to the festival are $45 per person in advance; $55 at the door. A $10 designated-driver ticket also is available. You must be 21 or older to get in. For tickets, visit the web site: www.parkrestaurant.com
