Has anyone fried an egg on the car hood yet?
You expect everything to go a little limp when the heat and humidity conspire the way they have this week. I have a response: soft-serve ice cream, which already is en route.
Marvel in Lido Beach is an oasis for the cool stuff. I recommend vanilla and especially coffee. The pistachio and chocolate will refresh you, too. No credit cards at Marvel, which also serves frozen yogurt.
Going east, Snowflake in Riverhead is a master of soft-serve, with great vanilla and chocolate and "twist," combining them. It always reminds me of the idealized Carvel, the one that melts away once removed from childhood memory. For the record: the hand-packed flavor of the week is blueberry -- fabulous.
