For a Valentine's Day celebration with a French Caribbean twist, consider the “Essence of Love” event, to be held at Franklin Caterers in Franklin Square on Friday, Feb. 14 at 8 p.m.
A four-course small plates dinner, at $50 a person, begins with a choice of appetizer, such as sweet potato conch bouchée (puff pastry), followed by a salad of winter greens with pomegranate and orange segments in a passion fruit vinaigrette. Entree selections include grilled polenta wedges with seafood, legumes and a black bean stew, or a stuffed chicken breast with a macaroni au gratin cake and spicy Creole sauce with breadnuts. Finish with either Black Forest cake with vanilla crème anglaise or butter cake with caramel rum sauce.
A VIP rate of $150 a couple gets seating in a private dining room, larger portions, personal servers and a Champagne toast.
For all, there will be a cash bar, a DJ, Latin dancers and a performance by French Caribbean singer Alan Cavé.
