Cornelius Gallagher, who since 2009 helped shape restaurants such as Verace in Islip and the just-opened Monsoon in Babylon for the Bohlsen Restaurant Group, has left the organization. No replacement has been named. (Executive chef Michael Wilson remains in charge at Monsoon.)

The Bronx-born chef is said to be opening a restaurant in Manhattan. Details about the venture were not immediately available.

Before joining Bohlsen, Gallagher cooked at Oceana restaurant in Manhattan for four years; and at caterer Sonnier & Castle.

He also is a veteran of the departed Lespinasse, as well as the Michelin-starred L'Esperance in France. Gallagher, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, was the opening chef at La Plage in Wading River.

His title with Bohlsen was corporate chef. In addition to Verace and Monsoon, he also was associated with H2O Seafood Grill in Smithtown, Prime in Huntington and Tellers Chophouse in Islip. Contributing to the concept and menu at Monsoon was his last assignment.

Cornelius Gallagher.
