It’s Friday night, another tense workweek has come to an end, and I want to unwind with…a bowl of noodles. Sue me, I find more solace in noodles than beer.

This bowl of lomein at Asian Moon in Garden City really hit the spot. So often noodles dishes in Chinese restaurants come corrupted with all sorts of extraneous vegetable matter—red peppers, snow peas, that god-awful celery. I ordered pork lomein and that’s what I got. The egg noodles were intermingled with strips of pork, sliced shiitake mushrooms, garlic chives and three or four rogue bean sprouts. There was plenty of salt and, let’s admit it, plenty of grease. I felt the week’s worries vanish with my every chopsticks-full.

Full disclosure: I also ordered a Tsingtao.

Asian Moon is at 825 Franklin Ave., Garden City, 516-248-6161.
