At 10:29 p.m. Monday, autumn arrives. And mixologists at The Garden City Hotel's Polo Lounge have a trio of cocktails to celebrate it.
These drinks are the work of restaurant director Orion Berge and restaurant manager Greg Wool. They're served in the hotel's Polo Lounge. You may not mind saying so long to summer.
The “Upstate Jackrabbit” includes 1.5 ounces of tequila, one-half ounce lemon juice, three quarters ounce maple syrup, 1 ounce carrot juice. Shake all over ice for 30 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice. Garnish with a sprig of parsley.
The “San Juan Old Fashioned” is made with 2 ounces of Ron del Barrilito Rum, three-quarters ounce honey ginger syrup and 2 dashes or orange bitters. Stir all ingredients for 30 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with three brandied cherries.
And the “Adult Apple Martini” uses 1 ounce of house-infused allspice vodka, 1 ounce Berentzen Apple Liqueur, 1 ounce sour mix and 1 egg white. Dry shake all ingredients for 30 seconds before shaking with ice and then straining into a martini coupe. Dust with cinnamon.
The menu at the lounge includes a raw bar, lobster sliders, a cheese plate, shrimp and grits, pulled-pork sliders, and batter-fried Oreos.
Cheers.
