Plainview is feeling some of baker Bridget Brennan’s gluten-free love these days. Following the success of Bare Naked Bakery and Café in Bellmore, Brennan has opened a second location.

Bare Buns Bakery and Café replaces a kosher bakery that was in the same spot. In addition to being gluten- and nut-free, it will also continue to serve the local community with a 100 percent certified kosher menu.

Brennan, who began to bake gluten-free after her sister was diagnosed with Crohns disease in 2008, loves being able to provide allergy sufferers and others with normally off-limits items like macarons, cake pops, and rainbow cookies in a safe place where there’s no fear of cross contamination. She does custom birthday cakes, because she believes that every child should be able to enjoy one.

The Bellmore location has an expanded café menu, including a custom smoothie bar, vegan and vegetarian panini, and soups. Gluten-free bagels can be ordered with lox and many other fillings and toppings. There are pizzas, both with and without cheese. A full-service coffee bar serves up specialty coffees, cappuccinos, and lattes.

Brennan’s especially looking forward to providing customers with holiday items, since holidays can be difficult for people on restricted diets. For Hanukkah, there will be challah, babka, ruggelach, and mandel bread. There will also be pies, cakes, cookies, and cookie platters for Christmas and every other seasonal occasion.
