The Gourmet Whaler, breakfast and lunch spot in Cold Spring Harbor, starts serving dinner

If you've enjoyed breakfast and lunch at The Gourmet Whaler in Cold Spring Harbor, you now can eat later, too. The popular Main Street spot has started serving dinner three days a week,

The Gourmet Whaler's restaurant, cozy, looking weathered and decorated with marine images, occupies the east side of the establishment, which also includes a food shop.

It has been a downtown destination for breakfast and lunch fare, from omelets and oatmeal to sandwiches and salads, plus tacos, with hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Now, it's open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with a nightside menu that includes openers such as a burrata crostino with broccoli rabe pesto; crabcake with corn salsa; baked clams oreganata; and panzanella, baby kale, and beet salads.

Dinner main courses take in skirt steak with chimichurri sauce; chicken breast au jus; pan-seared salmon; shrimp scampl-style; chicken and eggplant Parmgiana; and the house's "ultimate burger" topped with Cheddar, mushrooms, onions, avocado, bacon and a fried egg.

The price range for dinner main courses is $15.95 to $21.95; salads, $8.95 to $11.95; and appetizers. $13.95 to $15.95. Desserts are led by chocolate cream pie, carrot cake, a brownie sundae and ice cream. Price range: $4.50 to $7.99.
