Greenport restaurant Biere closes for renovations

Biere, a Belgian-style pub in Greenport, has closed -- at least for now. Owner Frank Purita said that he is currently renovating the place and expects to fully reopen in mid-September.
Purita added that some Saturday nights, Biere is the scene of live jazz; it also occasionally hosts private parties. The eatery is attached to Purita's other enterprise, D'Latte, a coffee bar with with house-made pastries and gelato.
