Back in May, I reported that the Poll Brothers’ Wheatley Plaza restaurant-in-progress, Bar Frites, was due to open in the summer. Gillis (whom I spoke to) and George Poll own Bryant & Cooper Steak House in Roslyn, Toku and Cipollini in Manhasset and Majors steakhouses in Woodbury and East Meadow. But Summer came and went, as did Fall, and no Bar Frites.
On a drive-by this weekend, however, I saw paper hanging in the restaurant’s windows and today, perusing the restaurant jobs on Craigslist, I found want ads for front- and back-of-house (i.e. dining room and kitchen) positions at a “new French bistro.” “Personable, professional and hardworking” candidates can e-mail bdixon@bryantandcooper.com. Bar Frites appears to be imminent.
In other Craigslist news, a new “breakfast—brunch—lunch—place is opening up in Great Neck. This is NOT your typical GN breakfast place, its is an extremely high end European cafe designed by a celebrity stylist.” Interested assistant manager and server candidates can e-mail brunchgn@hotmail.com. “Please be FIT, in SHAPE and have a smile, and attach a resume !!!!”
