1 North Steakhouse opened in Hampton Bays last July, under the late-summer sun and under the radar.
It's a spare, unpretentious spot, situated along the Shinnecock Canal, just north of Route 27. The steaks are good, the service is friendly, and the eatery is becoming a local hangout. Worth a visit from you, too.
You can stick with the beef theme at the outset, with a trio of sliders, mini-burgers with different toppings; or a more eclectic group of sliders, one beef; one, tuna; one, portobello mushroom. Or sample the plump sea scallops wrapped with bacon and finished with an apricot glaze and corn-and-avocado salsa.
