Hamptons cooking classes at Loaves & Fishes
If you are heading to Hamptons this summer (or if you live there) and you want to brush up on your cooking skills, check out what’s being offered by Loaves & Fishes Cooking School in Bridgehampton, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.
Recreational classes are offered on select Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, last 3 hours and cost $165. Classes are devoted to farm stand produce, grilling skills, entertaining and regional cuisines. On Saturday, May 25, the theme is the cuisine of Sardinia. Students will prepare a meal of arugula-artichoke salad with bottarga (dried roe), Sardinian paella, and almond-orange custard with lemon sorbetto. See the full schedule of classes here.
Starting in late June, the school is launching a “professional-style summer culinary program,” a series of rigorous four-day seminars that will focus on the acquisition of basic skills. The Beginning unit (June 24 to 27) includes food handling, measuring, knife skills, soups and sauces, roasting, poaching, grilling, cakes, pies, biscuits and muffins. The Intermediate unit (July 22-25) builds on the beginners skills, and the Advanced unit (Aug. 26-29) builds on the intermediate. The price per unit is $800; there’s a 10-percent discount if you register for all three.
